Hortus Eden was founded in November 2022 by Paul Chishala, an urban green space enthusiast whose journey began with a deep love for gardens and a desire to create meaningful, lasting outdoor spaces. With a background in social development and nearly a decade of hands-on experience in landscaping, Paul transformed his passion into a professional service dedicated to expert garden design, seamless execution, and meticulous maintenance.
From starting at the grassroots level as a casual worker in a commercial landscaping firm to leading an entire team as General Manager, Paul learned that true excellence in landscaping goes beyond aesthetics—it requires a commitment to service. Hortus Eden exists to relieve clients of the burden of planning, managing, and maintaining their outdoor spaces while creating landscapes that enhance both functionality and beauty.
As Lusaka and other urban areas continue to expand, green spaces are often sacrificed for development. At Hortus Eden, we recognize the crucial role of gardens and urban greenery in mitigating the environmental effects of urbanization. Chama Mapulanga - Manager
Is a former nurse who transitioned to pursue her passion for plants. At Hortus Eden, she oversees plant propagation and the growth of the nursery. Her role is vital to the company's success as she trains gardeners in plant care and maintenance, contributing significantly to our operations.
Joshua Chirwa - Operations Officer
Brings years of experience in the landscaping and garden maintenance industry. Joshua adds strong organizational and planning skills to Hortus Eden, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
Harry Nyirenda - Field Worker
A skilled gardener with seven years of experience in the landscaping and garden maintenance industry. Over the years, Harry has advanced from novice gardener to foreman, and now serves as a maintenance supervisor. He specializes in tree surgery and mowing, bringing precision and expertise to these critical areas.
Samaritan Phiri - Field Worker
An integral part of Hortus Eden since its inception. With a background in construction, Samaritan applies his expertise to landscaping, excelling in both softscape and hardscape elements. He supervises most of the landscaping teams, ensuring strict adherence to design plans and project standards.
Musaka Mutali - Administrator
a trained accountant responsible for managing Hortus Eden's accounting and administrative functions. She ensures compliance in all areas of operation, from staff onboarding and management to client and regulatory interactions, keeping the organization running smoothly.
